This is a list of puns in films, comics, video games, etc.

Works released in the 1990s

Space Jam

  • Foghorn Leghorn: "I resemble that remark!"
A play on "I resent that remark!", as well as the fact that Foghorn Leghorn is a chicken, so he "resembles" the remark of calling someone a chicken. He says this angrily after Bang calls Michael Jordan a chicken for refusing to play basketball. He may also be offended at the use of "chicken" as a pejorative term.

The Lion King

  • Scar: "Well, as far as brains go, I got the lion's share. But when it comes to brute strength, I'm afraid I'm at the shallow end of the gene pool."
Based on "the lion's share", this is said by a lion.
  • Zazu: "Cheetahs never prosper."
This is one of Zazu's news. Based on "Cheaters never prosper."
  • Zazu: "I'm the king's majordodo."
Based on "majordomo" as well as the extinct bird dodo. Zazu is a hornbill (another kind of bird), and works as the majordomo for king Mufasa at this point.
  • Banzai: "We can have whatever's lion around!"
Based on "whatever's lying around", said when Banzai intends to eat the lion cubs Simba and Nala.
  • Shenzi: "Make mine a cub sandwich, what you think?"
Based on the cub (a type of sandwich) as well as the fact that Simba and Nala are lion cubs at this point. Said at the same scene as the previous quote.
  • Banzai: "I said Mufa ... uh ... I said 'Qué pasa?'"
Banzai says the Spanish phrase 'Qué pasa?' ('What's the matter?') because it is similar to 'Mufasa'. This is an attempt to change the subject, because the king Scar heard Banzai complaining that his reign is worse than the previous king, Mufasa, whose name is forbidden to be mentioned in Scar's presence.

Works released in the 2010s

My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic

  • "anypony", "everypony", and "nopony"
These words are often used as a substitute for "anyone", "everyone", and "no one" when referring to ponies. The variants "anycreature" and "everycreature" are introduced later, referring to a number of creatures other than ponies.
  • Twilight Sparkle: "You shouldn't look a gift horse in the mouth." (season 1, episode 14: "Suited For Success")
Said by a pony (a small horse). This references the fact that she learned not to be overly critical of a gift (a dress made for her by Rarity earlier).
  • Pinkie Pie: "Rainbow Dash, Fluttershy, a little pegassistance?" (season 2, episode 24: "MMMystery on the Friendship Express")
From "pegasus" and "assistance". Said when asking for the help of two pegasi.
  • Pinkie Pie: "Now that Maud is heading out to get her rocktorate in rock science ..." (season 4, episode 18: "Maud Pie")
    From "rock" and "doctorate".
